When does the group meet?

We meet every Thursday evening throughout the year at 8pm at Windlesham Club & Theatre, Kennel Lane, Windlesham, Surrey GU20 6AA

How many productions a year do you stage?

We stage three productions a year: a panto in early February, and two plays in mid May and mid October.

How many performances do you put on?

We put on 3 performances for each production.  The panto has a Friday evening performance, a Saturday matinee and a Saturday evening performance.

Other productions have three evening performances on Thursday to Saturday.

How do you choose a play?

We are always on the lookout for new ideas.

The committee will read various plays and bring a few copies of scripts for the group to read together on a Thursday evening meeting.  Sometimes, other members bring ideas of plays they would particularly like to stage.

Who directs the plays?

Anyone in the drama group can volunteer to direct a play or pantomime.

What are the timescales involved in putting on a production?

We usually focus on one production at a time.  We begin reading and selecting scripts and hold auditions as soon as a previous production is over and select a director quickly.

Once cast the director and producer will draw up audition timetables.   Nearer to the production date we rehearse twice weekly (Tuesday and Thursday evenings) although sometimes not all cast members are required both evenings.

We have a technical rehearsal on the Sunday afternoon prior to the production and then during the week of the production we rehearse several times.

What else can I do, I’m not sure whether I want to be onstage

Jobs include:

  • stage manager
  • props
  • costumes
  • dressers

  • sound
  • box office
  • front of house
  • prompt

How is the set constructed?

We make a lot of set ourselves although we sometimes hire unique props, particularly for period productions.  We meet at the theatre at agreed weekends for set construction and painting.

Where do the costumes come from?

We have a large collection of costumes stored at the Theatre.

In addition, some talented drama group members make some costumes or hunt for them in charity shops.  We sometimes hire costumes, for example the uniforms for our production of ‘Allo ‘Allo.

Who comes to watch your productions?

We have a mailing list of supporters as well as friends and family of members.

If you would like to join the mailing list to be notified when tickets go on sale please send your details (Name, phone, email) to  boxoffice@windleshamdramagroup.com

How do I buy tickets?

Tickets go on sale approximately 6 weeks before a production and are available using an advertised phone number and email address.

If you would like to join the mailing list to be notified when tickets go on sale please send your details (Name, phone, email) to  boxoffice@windleshamdramagroup.com

Can I join your mailing list for notification of tickets?

What social events do you have?

Even if not involved in a particular production, many drama group members will still come along to the Theatre on a Thursday evening to watch progress and have a chat and a drink in the bar.

We also organise theatre trips to Windsor or Woking or further afield.  In the summer we organise barbeques or walks and in the winter meals out and bowling nights.
